On the A3 8Y, modules 09 (Central Elec) and 17 (Dashboard) are usually SFD-protected. If you try to code them without authorization, you will get a "Request Out of Range" error.

Step 1: Plug OBD11 into your OBD2 port (under steering wheel).
Step 2: Turn ignition ON (do not start the engine).
Step 3: Open App -> Control Units -> 17 - Dashboard.
Step 4: Select Coding (not adaptations).

Step 6: Change value from Not active to Active.
