The original Carandiru was shot on film at 23.976 frames per second. However, many European and PAL DVD releases convert the film to 25fps. If you download a subtitle designed for a 25fps rip and play it on a 23.976fps Blu-ray, the audio will desync noticeably after 20 minutes.
