Para entender el hype, hay que viajar en el tiempo. En 1977, la compañía japonesa Televisa International (en asociación con estudios de animación nipones) produjo una serie animada de El Chavo. Esta no es la animación moderna de 2006, sino una obra retro con un estilo similar a Astroboy o Kimba, el león blanco.
Características únicas de esta versión:
Durante décadas, esta serie fue un mito. Solo existían VHS en mal estado y sin subtítulos. Pero gracias a un grupo de fanáticos (los famosos "Chavos Hunters"), se logró rescatar los masters japoneses, remasterizarlos en HD (1080p) y sincronizarles el doblaje latino original (con las voces de Jesús Guzmán, Carlos Villagrán y Ramón Valdés).

Esta es la parte más difícil de conseguir. La versión japonesa existe en Nipón con voces japonesas.
