Echidna Wars Dx -v1.11- — -d-gate-

The first thing that grabs you about Echidna Wars DX is the presentation. D-Gate is renowned for their high-quality pixel art, and this game is arguably their magnum opus. The character sprites are fluid, detailed, and expressive. But where the visuals truly shine is in the enemy designs and the sheer chaos of the projectiles.

The game manages to keep the screen readable even when it is filled with glowing bullets, lasers, and massive boss sprites. The animations for abilities and "finisher" moves are flashy, giving every encounter a cinematic feel despite the retro aesthetic.

Pro tip: Fang + D-Gate double jump = break the game’s intended platforming. Devs kept it in as an “intended exploit.” Echidna Wars DX -v1.11- -D-Gate-

Today, the Echidna Wars DX speedrunning community has split into two factions: Vanilla Glide (v1.09, any%) and D-Gate Suffering (v1.11, D-Gate mandatory, no glitches). The latter has only seven verified completions worldwide.

Annual tournaments like EchidnaCon feature a "D-Gate Gauntlet" where two players cooperatively attempt Necro-Run on a single arcade cabinet. The prize? A USB stick with v1.11’s unreleased debug menu—still uncracked. The first thing that grabs you about Echidna

It is impossible to talk about this game without acknowledging the specific style D-Gate brings to the table. The game has a distinct "anime" flair and a polished finish that rivals professional studios. While the game features some adult-oriented themes and content (typical of certain indie circles), the core gameplay is solid enough to stand on its own merits as a genuinely great action game.

What makes this specific compilation so legendary? The answer lies in three pillars: Re-balanced difficulty, the D-Gate system, and hidden meta-progression. Today, the Echidna Wars DX speedrunning community has

Earlier versions (v1.0–v1.05) had a memory leak on the third boss. v1.08 fixed that but introduced a bug where the D-Gate portals would sometimes spawn inside walls. v1.11 is the goldilocks patch: stable, challenging, and with all D-Gate rewards properly balanced.

The D-Gate release also includes an optional “Classic Mode” (no gates, original v1.0 weapon stats) for purists. But let’s be honest—once you taste the dimension rifts, you never go back.
