Eson printers have internal pads that soak up ink wasted during cleaning cycles. To prevent these pads from overflowing and leaking ink, the printer is programmed to stop working after a certain number of cleaning cycles. This triggers the "Service Required" error.

The Adjustment Program resets this counter to zero, telling the printer it has a fresh start.

Note: While resetting the counter allows the printer to print again, the physical ink pads will eventually saturate. If you notice ink leaking inside the printer, the pads physically need to be changed or cleaned.

Because these tools often modify system hardware settings, Windows Defender or other antivirus software may flag them as malicious. This is a "False Positive." If you download from a trusted source, you may need to temporarily disable your antivirus to run the program.

If you own an Epson L382, you know it’s a reliable workhorse for home and small office use. But if you’ve stumbled upon this article, chances are you are facing the dreaded "Service Required" error message, accompanied by alternating red lights.

You don't necessarily need a technician, and you certainly don't need to buy a new printer yet. What you need is the Epson L382 Adjustment Program.

In this guide, we will cover what this program is, how to find the "best" version safely, and a step-by-step tutorial on how to reset your printer’s waste ink pad counter.

Older versions only work on Windows 7 32-bit. The best modern version of the L382 Adjustment Program runs natively on Windows 10 and 11 64-bit without needing to disable driver signature enforcement permanently.
