Flipnote Studio Dsi — Cia Verified

You have officially resurrected 2009. You can now watch, share, and star animations from a global community that refuses to let the art form die.

You have the verified CIA. You launch the app. You see Nikki the penguin. Now what?

Official Hatena is dead. When you click "Upload," you will get an error (011-3006). But the community resurrected the service via Sudomemo.

This is the most important word in your search. "Verified" means:

Warning: If a site simply says "Flipnote Studio DSi CIA" without "Verified" or a checksum, proceed with extreme caution or avoid it entirely. flipnote studio dsi cia verified

Even with a verified CIA, things can go wrong.

Issue: "An error has occurred. Hold down the POWER button."

Issue: The app loads, but the screen is black/white static.

Issue: The CIA installed, but it’s asking for a "Nintendo 3DS Camera" update. You have officially resurrected 2009

This is the most common source for verified DSiWare. Search for "Nintendo DSiWare Complete Collection." Look for a pack uploaded in 2022 or later. Inside the pack, you will usually find:

Before we talk about files and exploits, we have to respect the legacy. Released in 2008 (Japan) and 2009 (NA/EU), Flipnote Studio turned the DSi’s underpowered hardware into a creativity machine.

Flipnote Studio (known in Japan as Moving Notebook) is a free animation application originally released for the Nintendo DSi in 2009. It allowed users to create frame-by-frame flipbook animations using the stylus, with sound recording and online sharing via the now-defunct Flipnote Hatena service.

After the DSi Shop closure (March 31, 2017) and later the 3DS eShop closure (March 27, 2023), the only legitimate way to obtain Flipnote Studio on original hardware is via system transfer or by installing a verified CIA file on a modded 3DS/2DS system. You have the verified CIA

Note: Flipnote Studio was never officially released as a CIA for 3DS eShop in all regions. The CIA distributed in preservation circles is a converted DSiWare title or an unreleased 3DS eShop prototype. The "verified" label confirms it is a clean, non-malicious, and working dump.

Nintendo released Flipnote Studio 3D for the 3DS eShop. While it added color, many purists argued it lacked the charm of the original DSi version. Plus, Flipnote Studio 3D is region-locked and requires a My Nintendo account.

Why hunt for the DSi version?
