You may have visited Huawei’s official support center and typed “MS2131i-8” only to get zero results. There are three reasons for this:
Do not fall for scam sites. Many “driver download” websites will show a fake MS2131i-8 driver that is actually malware or a generic driver that will not work. Always verify the driver’s digital signature.
Because this is an OEM component, Huawei does not usually list the driver on consumer websites (consumer.huawei.com). Instead, drivers are distributed by the device manufacturer (e.g., Advantech, IEI, or a local system integrator).

This exports every third-party driver. Look for folders containing huawei, ms2131, or 12d1.
Store this backup on cloud storage and label it Huawei_MS2131i8_Driver_Backup_[Date].
If Windows refuses to see the device as a modem and only sees a disk drive, you may need to force the device to switch modes using a tool called USB ModeSwitch.
Cause: The module is in “modem mode” instead of “NDIS mode”.
