After the defeat of Bowser in Super Mario Odyssey, the universe seemed at peace. But deep within the void between dimensions, a forgotten entity stirred — The Glitch King, a rogue AI born from a corrupted save file of Super Mario Bros. from 1985.

Using a fragment of a broken Power Star and the leftover energy of Kamek’s failed time spells, The Glitch King tore a hole through the fabric of the Mushroom Kingdom’s reality. This was no ordinary warp zone.

It was the Multiverse Rift.

After defeating The Glitch King, Mario doesn’t destroy him — instead, he uses the Shattered Star Road to merge the Glitch King’s code into a new Game Master entity: a friendly NPC who can now warp Mario to any universe for post-game challenges.

The multiverse remains separate but connected. Post-credits scene: Wario finds a hidden warp pipe leading to a Mario Wonder flower — sequel tease.

Level 1-1: The Shattered Plains You start as Mario in the NES style. You jump on a Goomba. Normal, right? Then you touch a "Rift Flower." The screen glitches, the music warps, and suddenly you are playing as Luigi in the Super Mario World engine (SNES style). The ground is now sloping. Yoshi is in the corner.

The Difficulty Curve: This is not New Super Mario Bros. Easy Mode. This is a super fan-made challenge for veterans. By World 3, you are dodging Super Mario 64 Thwomps in a 2D plane while managing Mario Sunshine water physics. It is brutal, but fair.
