Solution: Microsoft has sunset the old web endpoints. Use the ISO (DVD image) version instead. Mount the ISO (double-click it in Windows 10/11) and run setup from there.
Microsoft still hosts the 90-day trial of Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate on their servers. After 90 days, you cannot legally use it for development unless you buy a product key. However, the trial never expires for opening projects – only for creating new ones or using premium features.

Solution: VS 2010 used Microsoft Help Viewer 1.0, which relies on an outdated IE component. Install the VS2010 Help Library Hotfix from Microsoft KB article 2607036 (still downloadable via Wayback Machine).
If you were a student in 2010–2015, Microsoft’s DreamSpark program gave away Ultimate for free. That program has since moved to Azure for Education, which no longer offers VS 2010 keys. These features are now scattered across Azure DevOps
