Nissan Zexel Ecu Pinout | PLUS 2025 |

Suspect: Fuel cut solenoid (E18 Pin 5 – Blue wire). Test: With key ON, check for 12V between E18 Pin 5 and chassis ground. If no voltage, trace back to the main relay (E18 Pin 1 – Black/White). If the main relay clicks but no 12V, replace the relay. If E18 Pin 5 has 12V but the engine won’t start, the solenoid itself is mechanically stuck.

Let’s decode the three most mission-critical pins for the Zexel ECU:

Most Nissan Zexel ECUs from the TD42Ti era use three main connectors: nissan zexel ecu pinout

Warning: Nissan produced at least 12 different variations of the Zexel ECU (part numbers ranging from 23710-XXXXX to A11-206-XXX). Always cross-reference your physical ECU’s part number with the diagram below. This guide covers the most common TD42Ti variant (ECU P/N: 23710-05J07 / 23710-05J09).

| Pin | Wire Color | Function | Voltage / Signal | | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | | A1 | Black/Yellow | Main ECU Ground | 0V (Chassis) | | A2 | Red/Black | Battery Backup (+12V constant) | 11-14V | | A3 | White/Red | Ignition Switch (+12V switched) | 11-14V (Key ON) | | A4 | Yellow/Green | Fuel Cut Solenoid (Spill Control) | +12V to open | | A5 | Green/White | Timing Control Valve (TCV) | PWM signal (0-5V avg) | | A6 | Black/White | Sensor Ground (common) | 0V | | A7 | Light Green | Coolant Temp Sensor (ECT) | 0.5-4.5V (varies) | | A8 | Blue/Red | Intake Air Temp (IAT) sensor | 0.5-4.5V | | A9 | Yellow/Blue | Boost Pressure Sensor (Signal) | 0.5-4.5V (1-2bar) | | A10 | Brown/White | TPS (Throttle Position) Signal | 0.5-4.8V idle to WOT | | A11 | White/Black | Crank Position Sensor (NE signal) | AC sine wave (0.5-5V) | | A12 | Not used | - | - | (Pins A13-A24 continue similarly, with injector timing feedback and vehicle speed sensor) Suspect: Fuel cut solenoid (E18 Pin 5 – Blue wire)

Some early 1990s Nissan ECUs were manufactured by Zexel (e.g., for GA16i, KA24E, VG30E engines). For those, the pinout is standard Nissan 76-pin or 82-pin ECCS, not Zexel-specific. Example (basic power/ground for 82-pin):

| Pin | Function | | :--- | :--- | | 27, 29, 31 | Power (ECCS relay) | | 16, 48, 60, 71 | Ground | | 22 | Ignition trigger (CAS) | Warning: Nissan produced at least 12 different variations

Most Zexel diesel pump ECUs have an 8-pin connector (sometimes a 12-pin with only 8 used).

| Pin | Wire Color | Signal Name | Description | | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | | 1 | Red/Black | +12V Battery | Main power (constant) | | 2 | Black/White | Ground | ECU ground (chassis) | | 3 | Yellow/Red | Tach / Engine Speed | From NE signal (crank sensor or pump pickup) | | 4 | Green/White | Throttle Position (TPS) | From pedal position sensor | | 5 | Blue/Red | Cold Start / Temp | From engine coolant temp sensor | | 6 | White/Black | Timing Control (Spill Valve) | Output to injection pump timing control valve | | 7 | Black/Pink | Fuel Cut / Stop Solenoid | Output to pump shut-off solenoid | | 8 | Orange | Check Engine / Diagnostics | To dash light or diagnostic connector |

Note: Wire colors may vary slightly depending on vehicle (Nissan Terrano vs. Ford Maverick vs. Nissan Cabstar).
