Nms Save Editor Ban Guide

Build a clear warning system into your tool:

There is one critical area where using a save editor can lead to consequences: The Anomaly and Online Uploads.

The main hub of the game, the Space Anomaly, allows players to see each other. If you use a save editor to create items that are technically impossible or glitched, and you attempt to upload bases or discoveries to the central server, you risk having your uploads flagged.

In extreme cases—such as players placing impossible numbers of base parts or creating corrupted data—Hello Games has been known to wipe specific bases or temporarily suspend the ability to upload. However, this is usually a "cleanup" action by the server, not a permanent ban on your account. nms save editor ban

With the introduction of Cross-Save (linking Steam, PS5, Xbox, Switch, and Mac), the risk profile has changed slightly.

Unlike games that rely on strict anti-cheat software (like Easy Anti-Cheat or BattlEye) running in the background, No Man’s Sky does not aggressively scan your computer for external memory modifications. Verdict for Console: Don't do it unless you

Hello Games has never released an official "You will be banned for save editing" statement. Why?

The closest we have to an official stance is a tweet from Hello Games’ support account (circa 2019): "We don't actively monitor save files, but please don't ruin Expeditions for others. Play fair."

This is the most common penalty. If you trigger certain flags, Hello Games will not suspend your account, but they will restrict your visibility.

  • Duration: Usually 24 to 72 hours. In extreme cases, permanent.
  • No confirmed case. There is no known instance of Hello Games permanently banning a player from launching the game or deleting their save file for using a save editor. The closest thing was a bug where corrupted saves were quarantined, which users mistook for a ban.
