Set in a near-future city where spiritual journeys—pilgrimages—have been standardized. Municipal authorities and private rites companies publish “pilgrimage scripts”: encoded itineraries combining physical waypoints, timed meditations, micro-rituals, and social tasks. Citizens subscribe to scripts that promise renewal, status, or credits. The state claims scripts preserve tradition; corporations sell optimized transcendence.
A fan-favorite in recent script hubs is the ability to "pull" items. If a rare chest spawns across a ravine, the script can teleport the chest’s loot directly to your feet or teleport you directly onto the chest. Pilgrammed Script
They did not abolish the scripts. Lawsets and licenses remained, and the city hummed with scheduled devotions. What changed was ordinary: a margin of error people kept, like a low flame under their routines. Pilgrimants sang in the background of feeds; Elias put his signature beside a public log that let anyone annotate a route with a single line—“I got lost here.” The city learned to read a new kind of pulse: not perfect arrival, but the small, stubborn measure of being human.
