Project X is not a movie you watch for a deep plot or character development. It is a visceral, loud, and unapologetic celebration of teenage rebellion. It plays out like a fantasy fulfillment for every high schooler who ever wanted to break the rules, escalating from a small gathering to a city-leveling riot.

Review:
This is a much more serious, emotional film. Think E.T. meets The Right Stuff with animal rights activism. Broderick gives a sincere, low-key performance, and the chimpanzees (real trained animals) are remarkably expressive. The third act becomes a tense escape/rescue sequence that still holds up.
Verdict: Heartfelt and thought-provoking, though dated in its effects and pacing. Great for family viewing with older kids (some upsetting scenes of animal distress).
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) – Underrated ’80s drama with a message.
