As of late 2025, Qobuz has not sued the developers. However, each update requires reverse-engineering new API endpoints. Version 2.4 (released last month) added support for Qobuz Playlist downloads and Hi-Res streaming capture without buffering.
The developers are working on a Docker container so you can run Downloader X headless on a seedbox. Also on the roadmap: automatic synchronization—subscribe to a Qobuz playlist, and the tool auto-downloads new tracks daily. As of late 2025, Qobuz has not sued the developers
This is the most critical question. Downloading Qobuz tracks for personal backup may fall under fair use in some jurisdictions (like the EU’s right to private copy), but stripping DRM technically violates Qobuz’s Terms of Service (Section 4.2: “You shall not attempt to bypass, modify, or circumvent any digital rights management system”).
Important: Qobuz Downloader X is not a piracy tool to “get free music.” You still need a valid Qobuz subscription (Studio Sublime is highly recommended for discounts on purchases). The tool simply lets you own what you already rent.
