SketchUp is a 3D modeling computer program for a wide range of drawing applications such as architectural, interior design, landscape architecture, civil and mechanical engineering. It was developed initially by @Last Software of Boulder, Colorado. Unlike traditional CAD software which relies on geometric constraints and complex parametric history, SketchUp utilizes a direct manipulation interface allowing users to "push" and "pull" surfaces to create geometry. This paper details the version history to provide a reference for software archiving and compatibility assessment. sketchup version list

A solid in SketchUp = single group/component with no stray edges inside, no holes, and manifold (every edge belongs to exactly 2 faces). | Version | Year | Key Innovation |

Note: As of late 2025, Trimble has previewed: SketchUp is a 3D modeling computer program for

The "Bridge" update. Better linking to Revit and other CAD software.

Trimble (a construction and geospatial tech giant) shifted SketchUp from a free-for-all tool to a professional architectural workflow. This era introduced the Subscription model, SketchUp Free (Web), and SketchUp for iPad.

The branding changed instantly. The free version was now called SketchUp Google Earth Edition.
