Slice Strobe Resolume Guide

This is the easiest way to start. It strobes an entire video layer without affecting Layers 1 or 2.

The downside: This strobes the entire rectangle of the layer. If you have content spilling off the edge, it still flashes.

Key Slice Parameters:

We can emulate a broken laser scanner.

You could technically make a strobe in any software. But Resolume excels because of the Slice Transform inside the Advanced Output. slice strobe resolume

Most tutorials will tell you to use the Strobe effect or Video Echo. However, professional VJs use Slice Strobing via the Advanced Output to create multi-screen strobing without rendering lag.

The Slice Strobe in Resolume is more than a button you press; it is a performance instrument. By combining the geometric division of the Slice effect with the rhythmic chopping of the Strobe, you create a third, hybrid effect that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Remember the golden workflow:

Go into Resolume right now. Drop a heavy bass track into the audio analysis. Load your favorite clip. Add a Slice effect (12 columns, BPM LFO on Offset). Add a Strobe effect (BPM Sync 1/4 note). Then map the Strobe Bypass to your MIDI controller’s button. This is the easiest way to start

Watch the crowd lose their minds. That is the power of the Slice Strobe.

Result: The left side flashes four times per bar, while the right side flashes eight times per bar. You have just created a polyrhythmic Slice Strobe.
