Before diving into configuration, you must understand why Nyaa is superior for specific content types.

Even with the indexer added, Sonarr treats standard TV differently than Anime. To get Nyaa results to download correctly, you must setup Release Profiles or Anime settings.

Option 1: The "Anime" Series Type When adding a show to Sonarr: sonarr nyaa indexer

Option 2: Release Profiles (Handling Groups like SubsPlease) Anime releases often have specific naming conventions (e.g., [SubsPlease] Show Name - 05 (1080p)). You need a Release Profile to prioritize these.

This is the modern, most stable method. Instead of connecting Nyaa directly to Sonarr, you use a dedicated indexer manager like Prowlarr or Jackett. Before diving into configuration, you must understand why

Go to SettingsRelease Profiles+.

  • Must Contain (Leave empty unless you require a specific group).
  • Must Not Contain (Block bad releases):
  • API Key – Leave blank (not required for Nyaa).
  • Base URL – Default is https://nyaa.si (or use https://nyaa.iss.one / https://nyaa.iss.ink if the main domain is blocked).
  • Minimum Seeders – Set to 1 or 2 to avoid dead torrents (increase if you want higher quality).
  • Click Test → Should show green success.
  • Save.
