Suske En Wiske De Glunderende Gluurder Lezen Exclusive

De Glunderende Gluurder (literally “The Beaming Peeper”) is not your typical time-travel romp. This story leans heavily into suspense and psychological mystery. The plot revolves around a sinister, grinning figure who seems to be watching the heroes from the shadows, causing strange events and paranoia. Without spoiling anything: the “gluurder” has a unique, unsettling motivation that ties into the theme of unwanted observation. It’s darker and more atmospheric than average, making it a standout for older readers (think 10+).

Jerom cornered the thief on the roof of the tower. There was nowhere to run. The Gluurder tried to use his climbing gear to swing away, but Lambik, who had climbed out of the basement through a window, caught the rope mid-air.

"Gotcha!" Lambik cheered.

They pulled the villain back onto the roof. Wiske stepped forward.

"Let's see who you really are," she said.

She reached out and pulled off the white mask with the grinning face.

Underneath was the face of the wealthy Mayor of the nearby town!

"The Mayor?" Suske gasped. "But why?"

It turned out the Mayor had amassed a huge debt due to a gambling addiction. Using his knowledge of the town's security systems, he had created the persona of the "Glunderende Gluurder" to steal enough valuables to pay off his creditors, hoping to blend in by pretending to help with the investigation during the day.

Wiske, however, had found something. Near the fireplace, she picked up a small, shiny object. It was a button, but not a normal one. It bore the crest of a mysterious antique shop located in the neighboring city.

"Aha!" Wiske exclaimed. "Our Gluurder isn't a phantom. He buys his equipment somewhere." suske en wiske de glunderende gluurder lezen exclusive

The next morning, the trio (including Jerom, the super-strong prehistoric man, who had just arrived for a visit) traveled to the city. They tracked the antique shop to a dusty, forgotten alley.

The shop owner was an old, shriveled man who claimed to know nothing. But while Jerom distracted the owner by accidentally breaking a heavy iron safe (just by leaning on it), Suske and Wiske snooped around the back.

They found a ledger. It listed sales of "special climbing gear" and "soot-proof cloaks." The buyer was anonymous, but the delivery address was a dilapidated tower on the outskirts of the city.

The police arrived, and the corrupt Mayor was taken away. The stolen goods were returned to the villagers, and Aunt Sidonia was finally able to sleep without fear.

Back at home, they celebrated with a large cake.

"You know," Lambik said, wiping cream from his face, "I knew it wasn't a ghost all along. A ghost wouldn't need a rope."

"Of course, Lambik," Wiske smiled. "We couldn't have done it without you."

And so, the case of the Glunderende Gluurder was closed. The village was safe, and Suske and Wiske had once again proven that no mask could hide the truth from a keen eye.

Written as part of the modern series expansion, this album explores the boundary between curiosity and crime. It asks the reader: How much are you willing to hide to stay safe? To help you dive deeper into this specific adventure:

It was a dark and stormy night in the quiet village where Suske, Wiske, and their Aunt Sidonia lived. The wind howled around the corners of the house, rattling the windowpanes. Inside, the atmosphere was tense. For weeks, the village had been plagued by strange events. Valuables had gone missing, and eerie, mocking laughter echoed through the streets at night.

But the most frightening part was the shadow. A figure had been spotted multiple times near windows and rooftops—a silhouette with a terrifying, permanent grin. The press had dubbed him "De Glunderende Gluurder" (The Grundering Peeper/The Grinning Peeper).

Aunt Sidonia, usually a pillar of strength, was a nervous wreck. She paced the living room floor, clutching her long hair in distress.

"I can't take it anymore!" she cried. "Every time I look out the window, I feel watched. And that smile... that horrible smile!"

Lambik, their brave but slightly dim-witted friend, puffed out his chest. "Nonsense, Sidonia! There is no ghost that can withstand the muscle power of Lambik! I will catch this Gluurder single-handedly!"

Suske and Wiske exchanged a look. They knew Lambik’s bravado often led to trouble, but they were determined to get to the bottom of the mystery. Wiske, with her sharp intuition, had been analyzing the clues. Jerom cornered the thief on the roof of the tower

"It's not a ghost," Wiske said thoughtfully, petting her doll Schanulleke. "A ghost doesn't steal diamond necklaces and antique clocks. This is a human thief. But how does he enter houses that are locked from the inside?"
