Step-by-Step Physical Reset:

  • Replace the hash between the first two colons with the hash of a known password, OR delete the hash entirely (leaving root::), which creates a blank password.
  • Save the file, unmount the drive, and reinstall it into the Tinybit device.
  • Boot up and log in with the new (or blank) password, then immediately set a strong one.
  • Warning: Editing /etc/shadow requires understanding of Linux file permissions. If you make a syntax error, the root account may become unusable. ❌ Poor fit:
