1. The Kiss Rule (Keep It Symmetrical, Stupid) If the bride is looking right on the left page, place an image of the groom looking left on the right page. Their eyes should "meet" across the spine.
2. Avoid the Gutter The "gutter" is the center crease of the album. Never place a face or a ring detail in the middle 1 inch of the template. Free PSDs usually have a red line marking the "safe zone." Look at the Layers Panel
3. Use Negative Space Don't fill every photo slot. A single 8x10 image on a solid 12x12 page of deep grey is more powerful than a collage of 15 snapshots.
4. Consistent Color Grading Your templates are neutral. But if you place a dark, moody photo next to a bright, airy photo, the album feels chaotic. Apply the same Photoshop action or preset to all images before dragging them into the template.
5. Flatten Before Printing Once you finish the design, save a master PSD (with layers). Then, flatten the image and save a TIFF for the printer. This prevents RIP software from misinterpreting your transparency layers.
