Yohohoio Hacks Better -
This is controversial but completely legal. All .io games have client-side prediction. Yohoho.io is no different.
Many players swing their sword the instant they are in range. This is predictable.
The Better Hack: Press the attack button while you are still 2-3 character lengths away. You will miss intentionally. Immediately stop moving.
The reaction: 90% of players will automatically swing their sword at the air where you used to be. Their attack animation locks them in place for 0.4 seconds.
The Punishment: Walk forward and swing. You kill them during their recovery frames. This is the closest thing to a "one-hit kill hack" in the game.
The ship is supposed to be safe. It is not. yohohoio hacks better
The Better Hack: Stand exactly on the tip of the bow (the front point of the ship). Your hitbox clips slightly outside the collision zone.
What this does: You can swing your sword and hit players standing on the dock, but their sword cannot hit you because the game registers you as "on the ship."
Counter-Hack: If someone is doing this to you, do not swing at them. Run directly under the bow and swing upward. Your blade will pass through the ship geometry and hit their feet.
Only use this if you are comfortable with browser dev tools. Open the console (F12). Paste the following:
localStorage.setItem('shipSpawn', 'frigate') This is controversial but completely legal
This does not give you a frigate immediately. But what it does do is change your default spawn preference. After you die, your next ship will spawn with 20% more health than a standard raft. It’s a leftover debug variable from an older version that the devs never removed.
Warning: This works in 60% of browser instances. If it fails, clear your cache and try again.
Here is a pro move: Let an enemy board your ship intentionally. Yes, let them. When they grapple onto your deck, immediately drop all your gold on the floor. The enemy will stop fighting to pick it up. While they are looting, your 3 crew members will stun-lock them. You then collect your gold back plus theirs.
That is a psychological hack that cheats cannot replicate.
Here is a better hack: On spawn, ignore wood completely. Run to the nearest chest (the small brown boxes). They drop gold and occasionally a Woodsman’s Axe. The axe increases chop speed by 40%. Here is a pro move: Let an enemy
But here is the hack within the hack: Don't equip the axe. Leave it on the ground. Chop two trees while standing on top of the axe. You will auto-collect wood at normal speed. Then, when you have 30 wood, now pick up the axe. Why? Because the axe also increases the wood-per-swing ratio. With the axe in hand, your next 30 wood will come in 8 seconds instead of 20.
Result: You build the basic sword and a tier 1 boat before anyone else has left their starting island. That is a "yohohoio hack better" than 90% of players.
Most players treat the edge of the map as a death zone. The pros treat it as a shield.
The Technique: Run parallel to the very edge of the island. When a pursuer swings their sword, tap the movement key away from the map edge for 0.1 seconds, then immediately back.
Why it works: Yohoho.io has a slight client-server desync. To the attacker, you look like you ran off the edge. Their swing misses the hitbox by millimeters, and you snap back onto the land. This "hack" makes you look like you are teleporting.
How to practice: Spend 5 minutes in a low-population server just running the coastline. Master the "stutter step" without falling off.
