Arjun scoffed. "Nice try, malware," he muttered, reaching for the power button. "I'm not falling for the 'FBI is watching' pop-up. I'm on a VPN."

But the download bar in the torrent client suddenly surged. 34%... 50%... 80%... 100%.

Arjun stared. He hadn't done anything. The file had finished itself.

He turned back to VLC. The video had kicked in. It was crystal clear, 720p, just as promised. But it wasn't the Las Vegas strip he was seeing on screen.

It was a live feed.

Of him.

A grainy, green-tinted night-vision shot of the back of his head, sitting in the internet café.

Arjun spun around, looking for the camera. He scanned the ceiling, the corners. Nothing but dust and cobwebs.

He turned back to the screen. The camera angle on the video shifted. It zoomed in on his hand, resting on the mouse. Then, text appeared over the video, burned into the subtitles:

"You downloaded the truth, Arjun. But you can't seed it."

Arjun’s heart hammered against his ribs. This was it. The ultimate copyright trap. Or something worse.

He grabbed his backpack, shoving his notebook inside. He didn't close the browser. He didn't clear the history. He just ran.

He burst out of the café into the pouring rain of Nehru Place, weaving through the crowd of umbrella-toting salesmen. He didn't stop running until he reached the Metro station, his chest heaving.

He leaned against a pillar, breathless, pulling out his phone to check if the file was still there, if he had hallucinated the whole thing.

His phone screen lit up. A notification from his media player.

Resume Playback? Jason Bourne (2016).

He pressed play with a trembling thumb.

The screen showed Matt Damon walking through a desert, looking rugged.

Arjun let out a laugh that was half-sob. It was just a movie. It was just a file. He had panicked over a glitch. It was probably just a prank file someone uploaded.

He relaxed, sliding down against the pillar as the train rumbled into the station. He plugged in his earphones.

The scene cut to a close-up of Jason Bourne's face. But as he opened his mouth to speak, the audio that came through the earphones wasn't the dramatic Hindi dub.

It was a whisper. A cold, digital whisper.

"Target is at the Metro station. Asset in position."

Arjun looked up. A man in a grey raincoat was standing across the platform, staring directly at him, holding a phone to his ear.
