Esp Calculation Hvac Excel Sheet đź‘‘

ESP is the resistance the fan must overcome to move air through the external components of the system—namely the supply ducts, return ducts, grilles, filters, diffusers, and coils.

The Golden Rule:
ESP = Total Static Pressure - Internal Static Pressure Drop

Or more simply for field calculations:
ESP = Pressure loss in supply side + Pressure loss in return side esp calculation hvac excel sheet

Calculated ESP = 1.85 "wc
Fan rating = 1.2 "wc at 10,000 CFM

Create a bar chart showing pressure drop per component. Red bars highlight excessive losses. ESP is the resistance the fan must overcome

The sheet suggested:

Result after modifications: ESP = 1.18 "wc, CFM = 9,800 – within 2% of target. Result after modifications: ESP = 1

Use Solver or Goal Seek to adjust damper settings so each branch has same pressure drop.

A hospital RTU delivers 8,000 CFM instead of 10,000 CFM. The maintenance team replaced filters but no improvement.

You don’t have to start from zero. Several industry-proven Excel sheets are available:
