It is not a Windows system file, nor is it required for OS boot or standard application operation outside of Help & Manual.

  • Check file location

    Upload to VirusTotal. A low detection rate (0–2 engines) is typical for legitimate files; high detection (10+) suggests malware.

  • Monitor parent process
    Use Process Explorer or Autoruns: hrw14.dll should only be loaded by HelpMan.exe (Help & Manual executable). If the error started recently after a driver
